Somerset Residence  is a 17- storey Twin Tower which consists of 122 no’s Luxury Sea facing furnished residence. Together the two 70 meter high towers form a spearhead shape that suggests grandeur and strength. Each tower has a basement, ground floor and 16 upper floors with a total floor area of 24,000 sq. meter.

The consultants design concept was to have an energy efficient HVAC system at the same time occupying minimum space as there was insufficient space to install large chiller plants. EMCO did the detailed design based on energy efficient variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system and energy recovery wheel for fresh air. The project was one of the first major projects in the Middle East and the First in Bahrain to introduce 28 systems of DAIKIN high ambient VRV-11 units. The total project capacity was calculated to be 700 tons of refrigeration. Thus 80 outdoor VRV units and 230 indoor VRV units were used to cover this rather large capacity.

It is one of the few residential buildings with a centralized exhaust and fresh air system with ION exchange energy recovery wheel which reduces the fresh air load by almost 40%.
